Rosemary Garlic Salmon Recipe

I love salmon. Love. It.

Salmon is considered one of nature’s superfoods because it’s loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D and other important nutrients.  However, I used to get my Omega 3's from other more affordable types of fish because fresh salmon was beyond my budget.

Crock Pot Lasagna

I swear there are days that we wouldn’t eat if it weren’t for my Crock Pot! (Or if you prefer, slow cooker.) It’s like magic,  I put food in it in the morning and by evening – poof I have a healthy quick dinner waiting for me when I finish work.

It's better than having cookie baking elves living in a tree in my front yard I tell ya.

Husband bought a box of lasagna noodles several months ago. Those noodles taunted me from the pantry. As in, I had to keep moving them around the pantry because they were always in the way.

I used to make lasagna as a single gal every once and a great while since I didn't have a boyfriend at the time, so I had time to fill on weekends. I haven’t made it in forever because lasagna is a massive cholesterol bomb and takes a long time to make. With a house, husband, dog, a stack of DIY projects, blogs - time is something we usually don’t have a lot of in the evenings around dinnertime and who needs more cholesterol in their diet?

Silk vs Milk Challenge - Day 1

Silk Milk challenged me to replace cow's milk in my regular diet with their soy, almond, and coconut milk products. I made a video with my Day 2 observations on the challenge and their products.

What’s the Deal with Organic Beer?

My green friends suggest that you should celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with an organic beer instead of beer tinted with green food coloring.

Of course, being a craft beer connoisseur I must investigate this first hand.

You’re welcome.

Husband and I bought tickets to the Columbus Ale Fest, a craft beer tasting. Before Ale Fest I tasted one craft beer. Great Scot Organic Pale Ale from Caledonian Brewery. Husband is a pale ale guy while I favor dark stouts and porters. When we tried it our conclusion was that the Scot Organic Pale Ale was a good middle of the road tasting pale ale, it wasn’t anything spectacular. I expected something a little more in the taste department for something labeled organic.

Do You Coupon?

Husband calls me The Big Game Bargain Huntress because I always comparison shop. I learned early on that I could not be brand loyal and expect to save money at the grocery store.

I used to coupon in my Early Marriage Days. I thought I was saving money.  I doubt I was because I’d often buy something just because I had a coupon. Other times, even with the coupon, the store brand was much cheaper. Of course, I didn’t know about stacking a coupon with an in store sale to get something even cheaper or free. Even when I did try it, the coupon was expired more often than not.

When I left my coupon holder in my cart at the store, I didn’t go back for it. I quit couponing.
