Simple Spiced Hot Toddy Recipe

Last weekend after the day’s snow shoveling adventures, Husband quipped that a hot toddy would be just the thing we needed to defrost on a Saturday night.

That wasn’t such a bad idea but hot toddies can be a bit plain. I didn’t feel like rooting around the kitchen for cloves and such when the sofa, a movie, and world’s snuggliest and warmest dog were calling my name.


Fortunately the lovely people from Salada Tea and Red Rose Tea recently sent me several of their new teas to to celebrate that January is National Hot Tea Month.

I had two good candidates in the Red Rose Simply Indulgent Peach Cobbler teabag and the Red Rose Simply Indulgent Cinnamon Bun in single serve cups.

Since the Cinnamon Bun is already sweetened with Stevia, I chose the Peach Cobbler because I wanted to add honey to my drink. I’m glad I did! The Red Rose Simply Indulgent Peach Cobbler tea I used added a just enough sweet and savory spice to my drink that it was a nice extra taste and not overpoweringly sweet like a flavored creamer can be.

You will need:

Red Rose Simply Indulgent Peach Cobbler  tea
Hot water
1 Tablespoon of honey (or to taste)
1 Teaspoon or lemon (or to taste)
1 – 3 oz (depending upon the size of your mug) of rum, brandy,  or whiskey (or not if you do not want to drink alcohol)

Make it:
1. Steep the tea bag in a mug of hot water until it reaches the desired strength. Remove the tea bag.

2. Add the honey, lemon, and rum/brand/whiskey (or not if you do not want to drink alcohol) to the hot tea and stir.

3. Enjoy!

Red Rose Simply Indulgent Peach Cobbler  tea makes an excellent hot toddy to enjoy on a snow day. No need to add extra spice, just rum. Yum.

The  Red Rose Simply Indulgent Cinnamon Bun also makes a tasty hot toddy especially if you like cinnamon. The Cinnamon Bun cups are already sweetened with Stevia so you can skip the honey if you use it to make a hot toddy with a single serve cup machine.  It is another keeper!
