Do Vegetable Gardens Waste More Money Than They Save?

I was bopping along the Internet when I found myself in a discussion about frugal advice people hate. Basically, those tips to save money that don’t apply to you. And the number one way to save money that actually wasted money was – plant a garden. This was followed by people saying that vegetable gardens cost them more money than they saved because it cost them $40 to grow one tomato and that vegtable gardening is a waste of money. On the one hand I tend to agree because growing a vegetable gardening to save money is playing the long game. Save this idea to your Pinterest Boards for later! Share it with your friends!

Branding Your Blog at a Blog Conference

My long term blogging goal is to speak at a blogging conference.

I am one of the Food Community Leaders for Blissdom 2012. I’m living my dream!

You can read my bio here. They make me sound very smart.
(Smart like I know stuff, not smart as in Alec.)

I'm a Blissdom Community Leader!Blissdom changed their session format this year. We will have one session speaker instead of panel discussions. After the speaker presentation, we will break into groups by niche. The Community Leaders will lead discussions about how to apply the session topic to our particular blog niches because every niche has it’s quirks that don’t always apply to the others.

I made a video with some ideas on how to market your blog during a blogging conference. I made this specifically for my Blissdom girls, but it can apply to any conference you attend.

These ideas are optional. Don’t freak out if you don’t have little extras to show or hand out. Truthfully, I haven’t done much beyond business cards – business cards are a MUST. Extra handouts are little more difficult with a food blog – it’s not like I can remake the Lazy Budget Chef logo in bologna or hand out my crock pot lasagna to everyone :)

This is how I party when Lisa's away.
I thought about sticking post it’s with my information all over Blitzkrieg since he is more popular on my blogs than I am and more likely to draw a crowd (seriously HE gets fan mail! Me? Not so much.) However, my roommate is a light sleeper and Blitzkrieg snores like a buzz saw so he stays home. Don’t feel bad for him. Blitzkrieg and Husband will be spending lots of guy time watching marathons of 24 on DVD (which I can only watch so many episodes in a row of everyone ignoring Jack Bauer's warnings and plans only to find all of the bad things he said would happen – HAPPEN!)

 Anyway.

As a Blissdom Community Leader, I will help extend a big Bliss Welcome to all of the newcomers to this year’s conference! I have a standing offer to give a free hug to anyone who is having that first day of school feeling. Give me a tweet @condoblues and I’ll come running.

I even put it on a t shirt – in glitter.

Learn how to make your own silk screen glitter t shirt on my other blog Condo Blues

That’s the thing that makes Blissdom so wonderful. It’s an empowering love fest! Don’t believe me? Look at the video that opened last year’s conference. I still get chills when I watch it

.

Will I see you at Blissdom?

What a great post!!

I love the idea of "3D" business cards. I attached a small package of ibuprofen to mine with a QR code link that explains why.

I hope to meet you at Blissdom! I'll look for your shirt!
Thanks for all the great tips! Looking forward to meeting you soon! :)

(And maybe we can chat about pairing up some of your recipes with wines. :) )
