Save Money with These 14 Homemade Laundry Detergent, Static, and Stain Cleaners

When I bought my High Efficiency (HE) washing machine I had a heck of a time finding a HE laundry detergent that didn’t make me itch, cleaned our clothes, AND didn’t make the washer stink. At the time I couldn’t find a HE laundry detergent that accomplished all three important tasks and ended up making my own powdered laundry detergent. Problem solved.  I had leftover detergent from the old washing machine that let me tell you,it  is NOT a great idea to use in a HE washing machine! However, that liquid laundry detergent is great for pretreating laundry stains so it didn’t go to waste.  Slowly but surely I started making other laundry cleaning supplies like laundry stain spray, static cling fighter, wrinkle releaser, dryer sheets and wool wash save time (it takes me less than 15 minutes to make this stuff) and money. It also cuts down on our household waste too. High fives all around!  Pin this list of ideas to your Pinterest boards for later! Share it with your friends Laundry S

Make a Halloween Monster Guts Smoothie

I have a set of nieces and nephews that are horrific eaters. They think fruits and vegetables will kill them.

That makes me want to get them to eat fruits and vegetables.

One way I do that is to give a fruit or vegetable dish a gross name. I got one of nephews to eat honeydew melon, which he is previously sworn will kill him on the spot because it isn’t a potato chip by using it to make a Monster Guts Smoothie.

Monster Guts Smoothie

Half a honeydew melon – chopped into pieces
Approximately 1 cup of plain yogurt (frozen or regular)
A blender or food processor

1. Mix the honeydew melon and yogurt in a blender or food processor until smooth.

If the Monster Guts Smoothie is a little bland on taste, throw some strawberries (or strawberry jam if you don’t have fresh strawberries) into the mix and make it a Monster Blood and Guts Smoothie.

Cackling with delight that you’ve tricked your picky eaters into enjoying a healthy treat is completely optional.
