What Goes on Sale and What to Buy on Clearance in April

After really reading the grocery store sales fliers on line instead of just skimming them, I started to notice seasonal sales patterns, especially around holidays,  especially industry holidays like Earth Day. When I shop seasonally,  I’m able to keep my family in fresh fruit and vegetables for less when nothing is growing locally yet.  Shopping the April seasonal store sales doesn’t just apply to food. Many household items only go on sale in April too. It is a good time to start looking for that perfect Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Graduation gift because the prices will be higher on those items in May and June. If you are a thrift or consignment sale shopper, April is the time to hit the stores! Thrift store donations increase in April when people start their Spring cleaning. For extra savings, pair the sale with a coupon from my  printable online coupon database  (affiliate link) because money saving coupons often follow national sales cycles too! April Seasonal

The No Mess Way to Organize and Store Mineral and Mica Makeup

I started a little cabin fever product cleaning and organizing my makeup drawer. I hate to admit it but there always seems to be a fine powdery mess in the bottom of the drawer and attached to almost every thing I keep in that drawer from my mineral and mica eye shadow pots.

I cleaned the spilled powder from the drawer and contents. I gave every pot an extra twist closed thinking that was the cause to my messy makeup drawer problem and organized everything in these cute stack able baskets insides of the drawer.

It didn’t work. The mica pots started to shed the second I put them away. No wonder crafters call glitter the herpes of craft supplies – grrr!

I bought a set of clear makeup jars similar to these but the eyes shadow pots didn’t fit – they are the same size.

Fortunately I had the solution in my refrigerator – takeout condiment cups! If you don’t have any on hand, you can buy condiment cups with lids here. It’s quick, cheap, and easy and guarantees my powdered makeup will not spill in my makeup bag during travel. Love that!
