Quick and Easy Corned Beef Hash Recipe

The Best Ever Seasoned Salt Recipe!

It wasn’t hard to figure out that the secret to my favorite local Greek restaurants amazing French fries is that they salt the fries with seasoned salt instead of regular. So good!

Naturally I started keeping a bottle seasoned salt in my kitchen and used it to make baked French fries. Seasoned salt quickly became one of my favorite ways to flavor grilled and sautéed fish, burgers, and in recipes when I got stuck for a seasoning idea.

Until I read the ingredient label on a bottle of seasoned salt and found it loaded with an obscene amount of salt and MSG, depending upon the brand. Fortunately, with a bit of experimenting, I made a seasoned salt recipe with less salt in it that store bought, tastes just like Lowry’s Seasoned Salt (my favorite brand,) and is a whole heck of a lot cheaper to make.

This DIY seasoned salt looks like it has a lot of salt in it. I’ve tried making it with less salt and sugar but it did not bring out the flavor as the original amount.

I don’t typically use onion and garlic powder in cooking because I like the taste of fresh better. I keep them around for this recipe. Sometimes but them on popcorn to kick the flavor up a notch.

Thoroughly mix together in a bowl the following spices:

1 Tablespoon of paprika – Do yourself a HUGE favor and walk right past that cheap and flavorless red powder labeled paprika. I recommend using Smoked Paprika (learn more about it here.) Smoked paprika is a little more expensive but so much more flavorful than regular paprika it is worth it!

1 1/2 Tablespoons of celery salt – not celery seed

1 1/2 Teaspoons of onion powder

1 Teaspoon of garlic powder

1 Teaspoon of turmeric powder

1/8 Teaspoon of Cayenne pepper

1 1/2 Teaspoons of corn starch – to prevent the mixture from caking. You can leave it out if you want to make gluten free seasoned salt

3 1/2 Teaspoons of sugar

1/3 Cup of salt


I store my homemade seasoned salt recipe in an old spice jar in my pantry.

It doesn’t last very long in the cupboard. It is the absolute best and tastiest seasoning  salt in the whole, wide world!
