Blueberry Yogurt Popsicle Recipe

Homemade Popsicles are all the rage in food circles this year. They blow those plastic tubes of neon colored sugar water Popsicles out of the water! I officially declare 2011 The Summer of the Popsicle. It's a nice follow up to 2010 The Summer of the S'more. My family discovered frozen fruit bars last summer. I felt better about serving a snack that is fruit and juice. It became spendy because a box of frozen fruit bars never lasted more than a few days after I brought it home from the store. Lo and behold, the winter holidays dropped a family gift of a set of  BPA free plastic Popsicle molds similar to these down our chimney. Thanks, Santa me! ( Disclosure: I am including affiliate links for your convenience. ) Last week Mother Nature turned off the cold and turned up the heat to full blast. Ahhhh, a nice homemade frozen fruit bar would be refreshing in this weather.     Save this homemade popsicle recipe to your Pinterest boards for later! Share it with your friend

Vegtable Garden Birthday Cake

My in laws are dedicated and fantastic gardeners, mother-in-laws side in particular. Summer family gatherings are a special treat because everyone's offerings to dinner table are cock full of home grown vegetables.

Home grown vegetables and fishing trip bounty at a Four of July family pot luck.
I contributed the beet salad. Read my Russina Vinegrette Salad reipe on Lazy Budget Chef here!

So it made perfect sense, when gathering for birthday party to serve a gardening birthday cake to the guest of honor. Can you believe this is a homemade vegetable garden cake?!

Husband’s cousin made this adorable garden cake for her dad. So clever and everything is eatable!
She made the garden shed from rice Krispy treats covered in fondant. The garden boarders are pretzel sticks wrapped in fondant, and filled with a generous amount of icing and fondant vegetables.

The piece de resistance is the comical bunny diving head first into the carrot patch. Silly rabbit!

Bunny butts make me giggle every. single. time.

She left no thoughtful detail behind and made the cake with dairy free ingredients so I could enjoy a slice too. How thoughtful!

Would you want this as your birthday cake?
