Date Night Lobster at Bonefish Grill #TuesdayTales

This Christmas Husband and I vowed to make a change. No matter how busy or crazy things out of our control get this year, we are going to find/schedule/steal an hour or two for ourselves to unwind with a Date Night.

It doesn’t have to be big or fancy. Going out to dinner at a causal restaurant will do just fine as long as we are doing it together.

Awwwwwww.

how to make time for your spouse during the holidays

We usually do Date Night during the week because weekend crowds at Christmas light displays, malls, movies, and restaurants quadruple and make our chill out time more stressful. That isn’t a greet idea since we are doing this to calm down and reconnect.

We also discovered that weekday Date Nights allow us to live large on a smaller budget. Many restaurants run week day only specials like Bonefish Grill’s Tuesday Tales of Lobster menu. Date Night for less? Don’t mind if we do.

Bonefish Grill serves a rotating menu of seasonal fish, seafood, steak and to my surprise, Asian inspired dishes like my appetizer the Waygu Beef and Ginger Potstickers. The fresh ginger and Thai peppers give these stickers a subtle kick of spice that is not too hot for me and just hot enough for Husband, Mr. Mo’ Hotter Mo’ Better, to enjoy them too.

I’m not sure what the little crunchies are on top of the potstickers but they  added a nice flavor!

We hadn’t been to  a Bonefish Grill before and from the looks of the place and the menu offerings you’d never know that it is a mid range casual restaurant. Especially when you realize Bonefish Grill features seasonal rotating menus of market fresh fish and cook over a wood burning grill. If you have not had grilled fish, you are missing something great!

As enticing as those menu selections where, Husband and I ordered off the Tuesday Tasty Tales of Lobster menu. These special menu items are only available on Tuesdays and for less money than we’d spend buying and cooking a lobster from the grocery store ourselves. Alrighty then, let’s go out on Tuesday!

I’m going to show you photos of our entrees from the Bonefish Grill Web site because I kept getting this look from Husband throughout the meal as I fiddled with my camera settings trying to take (and failing) to take a good photo of our main dishes in ambient light.

will you let me eat
I am so giving you a low light photography book for Christmas Lisa. I would like to eat my steak while it is still warm. (Don’t worry folks. He did.)

Husband ordered the Steak Topped with Lobster Thermidor ($17.90) as seen in the upper left corner of the above photo. I ordered the Cold Water Lobster Tail Dinner ($14.90) in the foreground. The entrĂ©e in the center of the is the  Lobster BLT sandwich ($13.90.) Photo courtesy of Bonefish Grill.

The bar serves a surprising array of specialty drinks. The Winter White Cosmopolitan on the winter menu tempted me because I am a Cosmo girl at heat. I figured I can always come back and order it on another day since the equally tempting Blackberry Sangria Press is only available on the Tuesday menu.

The Blackberry Sangria is sweet and is the second best reason to own a French Press coffee maker. Coffee making being the first.
All of the other photos in this post were taken by me.

From the photo you might think my Cold Water Lobster Tail Dinner was a little small. No so. It also comes with a salad. They happily granted my request of serving the citrus herb vinaigrette on the side, since I can’t eat most salad dressing due to their milk ingredients.

I chose the Bonefish House Salad with Hearts of palm, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, and pine nuts.

Our appetizer and meals were delicious and filling but not so much that we were too stuffed for dessert. Husband ordered a slice of tart Key Lime pie, just the way he likes it.

I declined since desserts always use milk. I considered ordering another round of Waygu Beef and Ginger Potstickers because I enjoyed them so much but I thought it might be weird to order another appetizer for dessert. Is it?
