Do Vegetable Gardens Waste More Money Than They Save?

I was bopping along the Internet when I found myself in a discussion about frugal advice people hate. Basically, those tips to save money that don’t apply to you. And the number one way to save money that actually wasted money was – plant a garden. This was followed by people saying that vegetable gardens cost them more money than they saved because it cost them $40 to grow one tomato and that vegtable gardening is a waste of money. On the one hand I tend to agree because growing a vegetable gardening to save money is playing the long game. Save this idea to your Pinterest Boards for later! Share it with your friends!

You are Wonderful and Have Nothing to Prove, Just Be YOU!

While you are reading this, I'm at from the biggest women's blogger conference there is - Blogher13 via the magic of working a head of time and prescheduling. Isn't technology wonderful?

Based on how exhausted I've been after past conferences learning everything I can to be a better blogger, networking to bring you new information, and meeting as many of you in real life as I possibly can, my brain is guaranteed to be Silly Putty by the Sunday drove home. The only thing I'll be able to communicate effectively for the next couple of days is, "Fire bad. Tree pretty."

And of course talk and write in nothing but hideously, long run-on sentences.

Anyway.

As much as I love learning new things and meeting new people, for some reason my inner super self conscious to the point of making myself sick third grader surfaces when I go to a blog conference.  I go from being my normal outgoing, confident, and - dare I say fun - self to someone who is afraid of looking like That Girl and thinks all of those rumors about not so nice behavior are about me. Then I meet someone new who might be feeling that way too, we chat, we laugh, and my normal serious blogging mentoring self makes a triumphant return to crush that Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing feeling.

Because I'm SUCH a serious person!
Me being Community Leaderly at Blissdom12

My friend Steve posted this video from the Geek Girls & The Doubleclicks on Facebook for all his Geek girls friends.  Nothing to Prove spoke to me because I'm sure we all have been discounted by someone who isn't a nice person and can use a little solidarity and pick me up in the THIS IS ME AND I LIKE WHO I AM department!

Or when you need to be reminded just how powerfully awesome you are by just by being yourself when your self conscious elementary school self rears its ugly head at a blogging conference. I saved this song to my phone for an In Case of Emergency Play This Song situation if I need help kicking my temporary inner weirdness to the curb.

I'm embedding the video below just in case you might need it someday too. Or if you just want to look at Wil Wheaton and Adam Savage being awesome. That's OK too.

Enjoy!
