27 Things I Make Instead of Buy to Save Money

Are you looking for ways to save money? You're not alone! It can be tough to keep up with when you have surprise expenses.  By changing some of our daily habits, my family started to make some of our household items instead of buy them to help use reduce waste, save money, and frankly because it can be more convenient. I added the items on this list bit by bit over the years. Please do not think you have to make everything all at once! Sometimes I don’t have to make more of something because I made a bit too much the first time and we are still going through it (looking at you Must Can All the Jam! bender a few years ago.) Other times, it’s a one and done kind of thing like sewing on a button, and sometimes I buy the item instead of making it (like yogurt) because I’m too busy with other life things to keep up with the supply and demand.   Save this list of money saving ideas to your Pinterest Boards for later! Share it with your friends!  In othe

Freschetta Pizza and Ear Bud Giveaway

My first Lazy Budget Chef giveaway was so fun, I decided to do it again! Would you like a little music to go with your food? Today’s giveaway is the Freschetta pizza or Artisan Pizza crust of your choice and TWO sets of Proud to Support Pink ear buds. If you are prone to losing ear buds (ahem…) this one’s for you because you’ll have a spare pair. If you are more careful with your ear buds than I am, you can always give the extra set to a friend – the holidays are coming!

Win Us!

The Freschetta Proud to Support Pink Program

In order to help support Breast Cancer research, Freschetta developed the Proud to Support Pink program. From September 25 - October 31st, when you purchase specially marked packages of Freschetta pizza and Artisan Pizza Crusts you can help them reach their goal of a $50,000 donation to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Enter the code in the specially marked Freschetta pizza or crust package at www.ProudToSupportPink.com. For each code entry, Freschetta will donate a $1 to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to support breast cancer research, up to $50,000. You can also share your or a loved one’s breast cancer journey of a friend on the site.

The reason why I am supporting Freschetta’s efforts is that Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center treats and supports research and treatment for ALL kinds of cancer, not just breast cancer. I don't think one type of cancer is better or worse than any other kind. I think all forms of cancer are horrible and we need to find cures and prevention for all of them. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center gets that and my support.

Disclosure: Freschetta sent me a sample of their product to facilitate this review. This did not influence my opinion. All opinions are my own and where not influenced by my being a Freschetta Brand Ambassador. What does influence me is their pizza because it tastes good. It doesn’t taste like the cardboard box it comes in.

For everyday pizza I must have mushrooms. But I have to add, the best pizza I ever made was a blue cheese, bacon, carmalized onion and dried fig combo that my brother-in-law read about in the NYTimes Tiny Kitchen blog. It was un-freaking-beliveably delicious!
