Quick and Easy DIY Car Air Freshener Hack

I use a vent clip air freshener in my car keep the inside of my car from stinking up the joint in between cleanings. My personal go-to is t his Fabreeze car vent air freshener , but I also love the scent of these Yankee Candle car vent air fresheners . Depending on availability and sales, I tend to switch between the two.( Disclosure: I am including affiliate links for your convenience .) I stumbled upon a killer deal on Yankee Candle Sidekick refills. Without hesitation, I snatched them up, even though I didn't have the matching holder (the Sidekick air freshener looks like this ). My brilliant plan was to simply stick the refill in the car vent, similar to the air freshener sticks that look like this . It sorta worked but mostly didn’t.

Apple Cider Carmel Cookies

I pinned The Cooking Photographer’s Carmel Stuffed AppleCider cookie recipe to my Pinterest recipe board because it looks amazing. Like most things I pin here on Pinterest for inspiration, I didn’t think I’d make them. I just like to look at them.

I made an exception for these little caramel stuffed gems.

Soon after a bag of  these Werthers Original Chewy Caramels landed in my shopping cart. (disclosure: I am including affiliate links for your convince.)

It’s fate I tell you! Fate!

I made the cookies.

I made a few substitutions to The Cooking Photographers’ original recipe. I didn’t have nor did I want to buy powdered apple cider mix. Instead I whirred 1 tablespoon of all spice and cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks and ¼ cup of brown sugar in the blender and added them to the batter.

I used both the traditional Werther’s Original Chewy Caramels and the Carmel Chocolates in the center of the cookies because I’m a wild woman.

I used whole wheat flour instead of white to see what it would do. I like the extra nutty taste the wheat flour give the cookies. Paired with the caramel it tastes like fall.

They smell like heaven when baking.

And taste divine!

Carmel?! OMG these sound delicious. I'm going to try them and I'm also going to try your substitutions. I love the flavor of whole wheat in baked goods although I know sometimes it is a little too dense for some recipes. But this one sounds awesome!
Those sound delicious! I am always looking for things to bake with my kids and they love caramel so these sound perfect!

Great minds think alike! I baked the same cookies! I do like the substitutions you've made. I'd be interested in trying the cookies with whole wheat flour to make them a little healthier ;)
