I have a set of nieces and nephews that are horrific eaters. They think fruits and vegetables will kill them.
That makes me want to get them to eat fruits and vegetables.
One way I do that is to give a fruit or vegetable dish a gross name. I got one of nephews to eat honeydew melon, which he is previously sworn will kill him on the spot because it isn’t a potato chip by using it to make a Monster Guts Smoothie.
Monster Guts Smoothie
Half a honeydew melon – chopped into pieces
Approximately 1 cup of plain yogurt (frozen or regular)
A blender or food processor
1. Mix the honeydew melon and yogurt in a blender or food processor until smooth.
If the Monster Guts Smoothie is a little bland on taste, throw some strawberries (or strawberry jam if you don’t have fresh strawberries) into the mix and make it a Monster Blood and Guts Smoothie.
Cackling with delight that you’ve tricked your picky eaters into enjoying a healthy treat is completely optional.
